On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, a well-known American conservative and the founder of Turning Point U.S.A., was assassinated by a leftist gunman while participating in a Turning Point U.S.A. event at Utah Valley University. Considering the nature of this murder, it is only proper that the official statement of Turning Point U.S.A. on his passing is presented to our readers:

It is with a heavy heart that we confirm that Charles James Kirk has been murdered by a gunshot that took place during Turning Point U.S.A.’s “The American Comeback Tour” campus event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.
May he be received into the merciful arms of our loving Savior, who suffered and died for Charlie.
We ask that everyone keep his family and loved ones in your prayers.
We ask that you please respect their privacy and dignity at this time.

What follows are the reactions of some notable people to this horrible murder.

H.H.S. Secretary Robert F. Kennedy: “Once again, a bullet has silenced the most eloquent truth teller of an era. My dear friend Charlie Kirk was our country’s relentless and courageous crusader for free speech. We pray for Erika and the children. Charlie is already in paradise with the angels. We ask his prayers for our country.”

President Donald Trump: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Trump: “In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.”

Rep. Thomas Massie: “My heart is broken for Charlie Kirk and my prayers are with his friends and family. Our country was founded on principles of free speech and open political discourse. Nothing justifies violence against any voice on the left or right of today’s debates.”

Vice President J.D. Vance: “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.”

In addition to all these, Donald Trump Jr. made a lengthy post, which for reasons of length we do not include, but to which we direct the reader. The substance of the post is included in the A.P.’s reporting: “In a lengthy social media post, President Trump’s son says Kirk wasn’t just a friend, but was ‘like a little brother to me’ and a ‘true inspiration.’ Trump Jr. said Kirk ‘changed the direction of this nation’ because ‘there is no question that Charlie’s work and his voice helped my father win the presidency.’ He said Kirk was civil and kind, and listened and responded with respect. ‘The only “threat” he ever posed was that he was incredibly effective. He was a powerful messenger of truth, and people heard that truth. That’s what made him a target.’ ”

The President also gave an Oval Office address on the assassination, in which, among other things, he connected this assassination to others which have happened recently and called on all Americans to “commit themselves to the American values for which Charlie Kirk lived and died: the values of free speech, citizenship, the rule of law, and the patriotic devotion and love of God.

Finally, the Altlutheraner would like to point its readers to the Word of Christ: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die.” (John 11) Without doubt, Charlie still lives, for He who lives in Christ, who has conquered death, will never die.
